In the first 2 chapters of the Bible (Genesis 1-2), God created the world and all that is in it. He made it perfectly and declared it good. God then created man to be in fellowship with Him. He gave them purpose, fellowship, and will. It was man's will that allowed him to choose to disobey God and to sin (Genesis 3:6). That choice affects all of humanity, and the Bible teaches us that, as a result, all man is declared guilty before God (Romans 5:12). We now share a common problem; we are sinners (Romans 3:10). As a result, sin separates us from God and sentences us to an eternity separated from Him (Romans 6:23).

Our natural inclination is to try to remove the stain and penalty of our sin by obtaining favor from God. We often try to please God by our good works and by attempting to abstain from evil. However, the Bible tells us that favor from God is not by our goodness (Ephesians 2:8-9).

God sent his Son, Jesus, to pay for the sins of the world (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). Jesus paid for our sins with His life when He died on the cross (1 John 2:2). He was buried, but rose from the grave after three days. He lives today and forever to make intercession for us before God (Hebrews 7:25).

If you would like to receive salvation and begin a relationship with God, you can simply pray and admit to God your need for a Savior. You can place your faith in Him for salvation (Romans 10:9-10). The precise words you use are not important. He sees your faith within your heart.
